BC Stories



BC Stories is a celebration of British Columbia. Designed as a promotional tool to enhance overall awareness of British Columbia and its status as a preferred place to live, work, play and invest, the stories developed within this program highlight the spirit of BC.

The primary focus of the program is to supply resources to international media interested in unique stories about the people, places, businesses and tourism options available in BC. From investigative looks into local companies developing sustainable, environmentally friendly products to fun and entertaining examinations of local celebrations, artists and events; BC Stories serves to entertain, educate and enlighten international audiences.

Program Objectives:

  • BC Stories is a media focused program designed to produce editorial stories that can be easily adapted to news programs, newspapers and magazines worldwide. The stories are produced by news journalists who understand the need to have versatile content that can be tailored to a global audience.
  • The stories are available for download in high definition as well as supporting b-roll, digital stills and research notes for media use. Contacts are also provided for stories in the event that further support material is required.
  • General public can also view a range of BC Stories to find out about the unique arts and culture, businesses, tourism & sports options available across the province.
  • Communities are also encouraged to use videos available within the program for their own promotional activities and highlight activities in their local areas.

Partnerships:

The Secretariat has developed key partnerships with the Union of British Columbia Municipalities, Western Economic Diversification, Northern Development Initiative Trust and Island Coastal Economic Trust to maximize reach across the province and ensure the greatest participation in both the BC Stories and BC Explorer programs for our communities.
